If you type in Martin’s Pond, North Reading, MA in this website, you can see aerials of the pond going back to 1938 and topographic maps back to 1888!! They don’t have the zoom capability of Google Earth but still pretty interesting. Notice the Pond’s outlet was where the entrance to the park is today.

Did you see all of the activity in front of the pumping station today in the pouring rain? Joe Gonthier and the gang were working on Joe’s eagle scout project. They planted 2 Red Maple and Honey Locust trees. The hope is that they will be future nesting sites for bald eagles. Thank you for all of your hard work. Next step will be to remove the invasive plants in the area. Date TBD – maybe neighbors will want to help?
