PDA TEAMS TO SURVEY FLOOD DAMAGE

Also, To Distribute ‘Recovering From The Flood’ Brochures

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Preliminary Disaster Field (PDA) Teams, composed of representatives of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the American Red Cross, will be surveying the areas impacted by the floodwaters in Essex, Middlesex and Suffolk Counties. The inspection of numerous homes and businesses will assist the PDA Teams as they assess the breath of this recent disaster’s impact.  Their report will assist those in Washington DC, as they evaluate Governor Romney’s request for a Presidential Disaster Declaration, which would trigger a variety of federal Individual Assistance programs designed to help those individuals, households and businesses most affected by this event.

The PDA Teams will also be distributing the attached tri-fold brochures, entitles Recovering From The Flood, which contain Flood Safety, Health and Insurance Tips, as well as key Recovery Resources.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is the state agency responsible for coordinating federal, state, local, voluntary and private resources during emergencies and disasters in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  MEMA provides leadership to: develop plans for effective response to all hazards, disasters or threats; train emergency personnel to protect the public; provide information to the citizenry; and assist individuals, families, businesses and communities to mitigate against, prepare for, and respond to and recover from emergencies, both natural and man made. For additional information about MEMA and All Hazards Preparedness, go to the MEMA website at www.mass.gov/mema.
