Winter Festival 2008

Why do people love New England? Most would say the change of seasons. Instead of complaining about Winter, how about a day of enjoying the beauty of the season, standing by a fire in your warmest clothing, watching children play in the snow, skating, having hot chocolate or chili, and remembering what it was like to be excited by the latest snowfall.

For the last 15 years the Martins Pond Association has invited everyone to Clarke Park for our annual Winter Festival. This year it was held on Saturday, February 9th, from Noon to 3PM on the shore of Martins Pond - just down Burroughs Road across from Shaw's Plaza. A few hundred people had a great time playing games, riding ponies, enjoying delicious food, skating, and warming up by the fire.

Kids were entertained with our prize every time games, pony rides, face painting and old fashioned free group-games like tug of war and a pie eating contest. Cookie Monster made several appearances during the day.

Hope we'll see you next year for more winter fun! Keep checking the Martins Pond website for news of upcoming events.
